Hello, pls can u recommend me most suitable turbo for my daily w201 powered by OM605 with only 6mm elements in old mechanic pump set to max fuel delivery.
Also what is the proper max pressure ? I was running on 0,9 bar with stock garrett GT20 a while, but it wasn´t enought. A lot of smoke specialy in low rpm.

Now my old turbo have crashed by itself and i have to choose :
Repair it for something around 350,-€
or
Mount a VNT turbo from OM613 (Garrett GT2359v) in good condition which i already have, but i dont know, if i will be able to controll it with my old pressure controller. (no vacuum aktuator)
Sure i have to adjust downpipes with any reduction atc. but its not a problem now...

When i tried to turn off pressure controller on stock turbo, max pressure in high rpm was 1,6bar. Is it enought or too much for OM605 with 6mm elements?
And is it dangerous for turbo, when wastegate (pressure controller) is turned off and turbo making max pressure for all the time ?

So can you give me any advice which I should choose??
 Repair stock GT20,
 or mount GT2359v,
or buy something else with 400,-€ budget ?

I have to say, that im not going to adjust pump anymore...It´s just a daily car.

From my own research and others input, unless you have an e-pump and a programmable aftermarket ecu or a chipped oe ecu, you're pretty much wasting your time with a variable vane turbo and should stick to a waste gated one. I plan to go with twin vnt's on my 606 conversion and that's why I opted for Baldur's ecu and e-pump. Fuel mileage will also be better with vnt. Philosphy should apply to your 605 also. Talk to Baldur.

I would like to ask the same question. I run the 605 with the 606s stock turbo on remapped electronic pump. I run it at 1.6bar maximum boost (reduced above 4000rpm for safety). For a daily driver a faster spooling turbo would be nicer, but to get my setup spool faster, the engine ends up smoking.

Does anyone have experience with a vnt turbo, that will spool up faster than the 606s stock turbo, but will be less restrictive at high rpm?

Nothing from old series like GT23... try some GTB2260VK from BMW or TDI. OM613 turbo is good only if you plan on using the engine under 4000RPM.  Big Grin

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ex: 525tds 130kW, C250TD 160kW, E320CDI 200kW, ML400CDI 230kW, A6 R5TDI 130kW
Now: Q7 V8TDI 240kW, 320d 150kW, 335d 210kW

Do some research on Holset VGT turbos. But it will still be tough to optimize without programmable ecu. Twin VNT 17/22 would be awesome. Small enough to give quick spool and top end. I have one on my ALH tdi and it's fast. Lots of choices out there. Do your homework and research many. Starynovy is right-the GTB2260vk is also great for a single setup. Lots of guys in the states are getting sick HP on their TDIs with it
