I will fit a beaver tail recovery body to it and use it for transporting my other cars.

I need to decide on which flywheel to use, solid or dual mass? and I need to decide on electronic or mechanical injector pump?

Nice project, engine sits tall in there. looks like you still have the electronic pump on it. i can help you with this if you need it.

That's how it landed in there off the engine crane, I need to move it back and down a few inches, there is a big plastic engine cover in these lt's anyway and the 606 is taller than the 2.4 that it originally came with.
I gave my ecu to TDR to deimmobilize a couple of weeks ago, didn't know you were offering ecus already done at the time

Since I'm using a manual transmission is there a factory flywheel with the 6 trigger pins for the sensor? I can get a flywheel from a 02 c220cdi 6 speed manual but I'm sure I'll need to mod the triggers

Im good friends with TDR Joe is a good lad, he will sort you out,
There was a w210 om606 model with dual mass flywheel , a quick check on ebay shows an luk part

https://infopart.org/luk-415013710-part

this should have your 6 trigger teeth on it.
hard to find an exact image of it though so maybe check with http://www.murfit.ie/ before ordering anything.
i know the c250td are easily got but there obviously a 5 teeth trigger ring

also cdi trigger wheels are 60-1 or there abouts

Yes Joe has sorted ecus for me for other conversions I've done and have always been spot on.

Thanks for the flywheel info

See the solid flywheel work I did here:
http://www.superturbodiesel.com/std/show...p?tid=5554
Needed a lathe but wasn't hard to put the 6 sensor triggers in.

1992 W201 190D 2.0L and 1971 W108 280SE with OM606, electronic pump and 6 speed manual gearbox.

Good info there thanks. Did you drill the holes to correspond with the pegs on the flex plate is it tdc for each cylinder?

Wow, that's a brilliant project! Plenty of poke and economical! You just don't see many VW Lt's across here in england, or at least i don't, not the mk1 one anyway, plenty of "sprinters" ;-)

W639 Vito OM606 + 722.6 STD - in progress

Current progress: engine in, gearbox in, bumper bar modified to accept w210 radiator, audi electric fan, very tight squeeze, interior stripped out ready for new seats (w211) and custom dash with w211 clocks controlled by arduino with split fuel gauge covering main tank and auxiliary for Veg Oil ...

- DSL1 ECU for Electronic OM606 Pump (currently fitting wiring)
Next; 722.6 Controller, HX40 with homemade manifold, Air-to-water intercooler, homemade exhaust, MOT.... One day!

Hi Ron,
No, it doesn't matter where the pegs are so long as they are evenly spaced. The pump is timed to the crank already, so the squirts of fuel will always happen at the right time. The sensor just wants to know RPM.

Is there any progress on this project? I am planning on doing the same thing. Does the oilsump clear the front crossmember? Does your LT have independent front suspension?

Sweet, look forward to your tranny solution. Would a 722.6 auto & controller be a better solution for that type of vehicle?

Installed:

OM606/722.6, big IC, W220 brakes.
Planned:
DIY manifold, compound, 722.6 controller, built IP.
[i]Less rust..

From the chassis I see - no, only "thin" chassis and vans had wishbones in the front, used on light duty LT28 and LT35 rigs. LT40 and up to LT55 (28 - 2.8T gross weight, 35 - 3.5T...etc.) have thicker chassis and leaf springs.

722.6 really doesn't cut it for a car transporter. Adapter for a stock transmission would be the best option.

I'll have this followed, since I have a friend that drives an LT50 recovery truck that is in dire need of more power...

I have done no work on this for the past year but I do have a mechanical pump on the way from dieselmeken. I have a 6 speed gearbox from a mercedes sprinter and need to decide on which clutch and flywheel to purchase, dual mass or solid?

To answer the earlier question about the sump, I have fitted an e320cdi sump and oil pump, mine is an lt50 so it has leaf spring suspension up front, I think I will need to mod the sump a bit to clear the bar that goes between the wheels as it might hit the sump on full compression
