Hi, I'm curious if I could build compound turbo system for my 2.7CDI E-class ... Is there any possibility to build compound turbo based on vnt turbo like gtb2260vklr or gtd2060vz and some still turbo without vgt or vnt system? Sorry if it's dumb question guys... just try to learn something and build stuff Undecided Now I have gt2359v ad C30 AMG injectors in my Merc pushing about 220BHP, 500Nm on ~1.5bar of boost.   Or is it better to stay with one turbo setup? I would like to get over 300BHP. Thanks for your answers, have a nice day Smile

You can get 300HP with that turbo already.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ex: 525tds 130kW, C250TD 160kW, E320CDI 200kW, ML400CDI 230kW, A6 R5TDI 130kW
Now: Q7 V8TDI 240kW, 320d 150kW, 335d 210kW

I would say keep it simple. Take a complete BMW 335d/535d compound setup. They are matched and ready to go. Also a vary tight and compact setup. Looks really weird though haha Smile

But really. The turbo you have should blow past 2bar without hesitation.

I can help you out with all your manual transmission, clutch, flywheel, intake and exhaust manifold issues.

I have the same turbo only with billet comp wheel and 2.3bar without problem.

BMW setup looks like a good idea, but could my ECU control this system? Man who tuned my car said that this gt23 is now fully loaded with those 1.5bar and if I want more power I need to change turbo... I don't understand why he said that if you guys use this turbo and assure it will be good for 300hp... :/

I used to 1.9bar on GT23V before billet wheel with no problem. So buy billet and go over 2bar. I have extended tip - GT2364V and 2.3bar. On my OM611: 190-200kW(meanwhile) without smoke.

I probably do what you said, thanks. You run on CP3 pump? Is it hard to change from CP1, what do I need to do it? Sorry for offtopic Smile I'm curious it's possible to build that compound with vnt and non vnt turbo?

Why did you chose to change injectors for only 220bhp ? Sorry dumb question but with a mapping you could get 200-220hp I been told.
Do you use original boost sensor ?
Many people says that you have much to get on bigger intercooler.
I have the same engine and looking forward to follow your build.

2500mbar is maximum with original MAP. You have to buy 4bar MAP if you want to go over 1.5bar. I think that is the reason why tuner told you "This is max from this turbo". It´s not hard, if you know how to use drilling-machine and your brain Smile

I changed the injectors because I'm aiming for more power in the future and old ones were in bad condition so it was good opportunity. This year I'm changing an ic.

MartinB I know I have to change MAP for more boost, but 1st. tuner did'nt know linearisation for A010 153 72 MAP and decided to use some VAG MAP next year when I come back... 2nd. He said that even if we change MAP for bigger he will not be able to raise boost because it's all that that turbo can make... That's why I'm so surprised, before I started any mods I read this and many others forums looking for what I can do to my engine and then he said that... :/ I need only pump or something like rail fule pressure sensor to change? Thank you so much for all our answers, I appreciate that

I had 1.8 on OM612 and GT2359V, so you can make that too. Not shure about 2 bar, because on 2 bar pressure i had big increasing in IAT, that means compressor far out of efficiency map. You can use billet comp wheel as MartinB recommend. Other way is custom manifold or flange adapter for GTB2260 or HE221W. With HE221W you will get good spool and 2.5 bar (Here this turbo is 200$).
No need for compound if you want less than 2.5 bar with good spool up.
For CP3 you need front head cover from OM628 and CP3. And custom low press lines. That is all. Do not be confused by reduction valve on pump, live it unplugged, your ECU have nothing to do with that and it opened then unplugged, so no problem) CP3 nstallation discribed at MartinB thread pretty detailed.
Good luck)

Thank you so much Rom1. I was thinking of GTB2260 or GTD2060vz now my goal is 300hp but in the future I want to push more from my engine so I followed your treat about compound. Did you think about gtb3576klnrv?

sorry to highjack, recently i had my 605 running a sequential setup, gt23V with that extended tip wheel and a hx35 blowing as LP charger..... it is working not as i imagine it but its going 2.5bar intake and 2.5 EGP well i´m on the 1/1 ratio, the goal is 3bar boost and stay with 2.5 EGP so that i can hit the .8 ratio...(at full power 450cº EGT)
This is with 150cc pump, i´ll try to improve some aspect in my build , the gt 23 is not pushing as it should ....
But u remember , the maps are printed with pressure diferential , there´s no reason for a gt 23 to choke compressor if we feed it with a holset crap at 1.5 bar, if the map assume sea level air pressure .... and so on... the turbine in the gt 23 chokes easy , so a bypass is needed...
if u can have 150cc out of a CR3 injector, it will have enough gas to propell those turbines....
later on i´ll post a squetch of my system , but is not diff from what is posted above... i just sent all air throgh the HP charger...
regards

gtb3576klnrv with billet wheel seems to be good for max 60 lb/min, but dont think that it can handle more than 2.5 bar boost.
This turbo could be good for IDI engines that revs high. Our CDI revs about 4500 then stock and we need bigger boost for high HP. Hard to find high PR (4-4.5) turbo that flows about 60 lb/min and spools fast enough to provide good low-end torque. GTB2260vk good for 300 HP i think.

there are some versions of the GTB3576klnrv just look and search on tdiclub.com, both with and without gtx style compressorwheel but note it is not 76mm exdusor outlet... But do not forget about turbine side, nice turbine you will find in GTX3584RS...
if you want better go for the GTC3576... version, want bigger there is even a GTC4088...

If you want trouble free fit then take turbo from C30AMG and fit billet comp wheel to it.

Ex: 525tds 130kW, C250TD 160kW, E320CDI 200kW, ML400CDI 230kW, A6 R5TDI 130kW
Now: Q7 V8TDI 240kW, 320d 150kW, 335d 210kW

You can also buy C30 exhaust manifold if you want more space before turbo.
