Injector leak off pipes
Injector leak off pipes
I've got a bad leak on number 4 from the injector leak off pipes. I've replaced them all and put clips on and they're still leaking. I've took off the electric fuel pump to see if that reduces pressure but the problem is still there. But it is less. There's no blockage back to the tank. It sounds to me like a bad injector. Just wondered if anyone else had had this problem.
The leakoff pipes are rather low-pressure. Given your symptoms, I would assume a leak at the injector. It doesn't need to be the injector itself that is leaking. It can be injected fuel that is being pushed out of the combustion chamber, past the injector. As a first step, try re-torquing the injector into the head.
BTW: Throw away the cloth covered return lines and use Viton lines. You will never need to replace them again.
Thank you for that. I think I may have stopped it for now. The new leak off hoses I got from the hose shop are a lot softer than the originals. So I've replaced the one that was leaking with an old one and some c clips and it appears ok for now. If the leak still persists then I will torque up the injectors. I will also purchase some viton lines. Thanx for a reply.
All the aftermarket leak off pipes are terrible quality, I'm going to try Viton as mentioned above. But someone on the retrorides forum told me cheapest place for OEM quality leak off pipes is from a Peugeot dealer, about £12 a meter. I think it's more like £30 from Mercedes..
beers,
I've solved this now by having one leak off coming from injector 1 and another from injector 5 then both into a t going on a separate line back to the tank. Also stops the inline fuel pump from pressurising those lines when they where connected into the original return line. Il have to check out the Peugeot lines. Mine are Parker ones at the mo
Ah you were pressurising them with an electric pump? lol that might be why.
I'm going: 044 - Filter - IP - FPR - leak-off lines tee'd into return line between FPR and tank
