This is possibly one of the best small frame vnt turbos currently available! And the only ballbearing vnt at the moment....

Have fun with it, and please take some pictures without the caps ;-)

Hi, so I finaly found a place where we can dyno without having any work done to the car.

It was not us but an employee from the place who was doing the pulls.

Out of 8 - 9 pulls we only had 4 good ones.

ESP was fully switched off.

First & 2nd pull, my tune wich I drive now for 30.000 km

Only in the first pull he could give full throttle without downshifting.
The computerscreen was calibrated till 210KW and it flat spotted from 3200 to 4200 rpm, so this would have been the best pull but I don't have a print out.

2nd pull was 205KW/3473RPM & 670NM/2541RPM (second page highest line)

Just a little haze out of the exhaust

Now we loaded standard map, no DPF, no cat (First page)
3th pull was 163KW/3811RPM & 429NM/2919RPM

Now I thought let's make a dyno queen so we added 10% more fuel

4th pull was 200KW/3568RPM & 665NM/2486RPM

Lots of smoke

This is where I was shure that the guy behind the wheel wasn't pushing full throttle.

Anyone know how we can avoid the downshifting?

(10-31-2012, 01:34 PM)Turbo How do the boost level look like?

1.6 bar only, we need a 4 bar map sensor and find the calibration in the ECU to achieve higher boost levels.

You can see in the original map, the dip in the dyno sheet is because the turbo spools faster then stock, it hits the boost limit & cuts down, then picks up again...

I have one of those turbos w/ very low mileage, has a bad actuator if anyone is interested. 642's and biodiesel don't get along. MB put out a good document about how it really destroys these engines.

If possible and for a good information on this thread, and if anyone knows it, the teorical/real maximum values for:

-Injectors mm^3/hp
-mass air flow rate lb/min
-cylinder heads cfm's
-turbo boost BAR
etc...

I will do some measurements on air flow and injection soon and will post my results. If you have any please post. Wink

Hi guys!
I have a question about mounting GTB2260VKLR on the motor OM642.920.
I know that the flanges are identical as GT2056V. I know about part number A6420961145 - turbo mount, gasket A 6421420681 and A6421420981. I know how make water output from the turbo.
My question is how make the water inlet to the turbo? Just drill a hole as shown gasket A 6421420681 in motor block?
Thanks for your help

Yup--Its the DPF situation that causes most of the incompatability issues with BioDiesel....

Its pretty nice then that the OM.642 imported to the UK market--Doesnt Have that Nasty Device fitted, as far as I'm aware!

Here in the UK, DPF's cause more trouble than anything else on diesel-vehicles! 'Orrible bloody things! There's loads of Co's doing DPF deletes here!

Thanks for your help

just take water before and after the radiator or do like I did, tapped the block and out into the reservoir

On W211 there should be some "dyno mode" which can be activated over cluster menu.

yes, there is a "secret menu" and there you will find a dyno mode submenu.

It's in a jeep grand cherokee

now let's see what DPF removal, EGR blocking, GTB2260VKLR & a tuner with experience will get out off this diesel...

Do you guys see any aftermarket parts for main and rod bearings available in europe after machine work?  We can't get anything from what I've seen

The part number for that 4 bar sensor is 0101537228.

The OM642LS rail pressure is higher on these by default, but only by 200 bar. The om651 uses 2000 bar, check this out:

http://ae-plus.com/features/mercedes-ben...sel/page:3

I haven't tried swapping the om651 sensor to the om642, not sure of the correct part number or if the threads are the same. Here are the om651 rail and sensor numbers I could find:
Fuel rail number:     A6510700495
Sensor number:     9307Z521A or 55PP22-01

The original CP3 on my wk has started to make some noise (A6420700301), I just ordered a pump for the LS engine (A6420701201). Will find out soon if it is plug and play. Over time I will slowly upgrade the whole fuel system to the later type. I also have a GTB2060V (same compressor as 2260, slightly larger exhaust turbine) from a w222 and a new pedestal that I am going to swap in using your above method when I do the oil cooler seals and EGR delete. Thank you for the inspiration! Looking forward to your next maps.

In general, We see 642's come in seized at the mains at 100K miles.  They don't seem to hold up well after an oil cooler but we've had more than a few that have seized with all maintenances done and no repairs to the engine.  I have a 2008 164 with one that I wish I could swap out with a 606.  I guess we'd like to know if anyone was supplying oversized mains, rod bearings.  Its crap that rods have to be replaced if loosened...

That is right, not sure what I was thinking about there. Here are the sizes for each for future reference:

comparison between GTB2260VKLR and GTB2060VKLR:
