Hello Im scrapping a 2002 sprinter 311 van with a om601 2002 year seams a shame not to use the engine and gearbox, just a couple of questions will the electrical side be to complicated to transfer if so can one modify to a inline pump.
Also I'd like to uses the gearbox but it's cable controlled what options are there when fitting into the g class.
I don't like a heavy engine in my short wheelbase gs I have a wolf with a om616 that's not got a lot of power but offroad it's balance is fantastic.
Many thanks For any advise

Probably u have a 604 D22 with a lucas epic pump....
Or a 601 D 23 but that should have a M pump.
Anyway u can use the inline pump, but be aware that some engine blocks can't house the advance mechanism. Need to be cut.

OM611 is quite a different beast from the older engines, the inline pump won't fit, there is nowhere to mount it.

Easiest way to see what can it run without would be to start disconnecting CAN lines from ABS control unit etc. If it runs well with everything except the immobilizer disconnected then great. Otherwise you'll have to have it remapped to remove any limiters and faults. You can transfer the immo system or bypass the immo altogether.
It should be posyible to bypass the immobilizer on the ECU and get it to run standalone. Not an easy job but possible.
