606 Transition Pipes
606 Transition Pipes
larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?
How much would y'all pay for these badboys in mild steel? in stainless?
606 exhaust oval -> 2" ID pipe.
Trying to judge if it's worth the time to makeup a die set.

From experience I would say 1.5" outlet would be easier to fabricate a manifold from with the space available, but to answer your question I would have bought a set off you if these were available 6 months ago!
Beers
2" is on the big side. Unnecessary internal volume isn't good on a turbo manifold. Also transitioning to a divided T3 would be murder.

The circumference of the 606 outlets is the same as a 2.25" pipe, It would be interesting to stretch out a 1.5" pipe to 2.25"....

First test with the prototype die, using 2.25" exhaust pipe (1/16" wall, has a 2.125" ID)
I didn't center it properly and mangled the round end, but the oval came out pretty nice. It was a TIGHT fit with the 2.125" pipe, 2" thick wall is going to be a bear!

Why not just make it from 1.5" to 2.25" concentric reducers like everyone else?

Where the heck are you getting those? Stateside I've only been able to find cast reducers.

Looks good! I'd definitely be up for buying a set.
1/16" wall sounds a bit thin, no? Probably better off with 1/8".
My only issue with those concentric reducers as Harry mentioned is that they appear quite long, which could be a negative for those with space constraints. If they were shorter I'd go for them.

Smushed up a 2" sched40 pipe the other day(It still needs finishing, but this is the general idea)
1.5" will follow(or explode) soon....

So yeah, 1.5" schedule 40 wasn't too happy:

Lol they are 'weld-els', more formally weld elbows, very easy to find in USA very hard to find in UK...
They are cast steel so they bent well.
I used 2.25" x 1.5" concentric reducers and they are perfect, just trimmed them down a bit because full size they stick out from the manifold flange about 4" and we have steering box on RHD. I would suggest you try the same,

Ace stainless has the concentrics that I used. I have a bunch of extra flanges if anyone wants them. I have stainless and mild steel.

I found local reducers, but the damn things are like $20/pop. Pressed really nicely though:

(05-17-2017, 05:26 PM)TIMNZ Looking good, regarding the conc reducer size I presume you mean 2.5" x 1.5" or for those of us that use Metric 65 x 40 .
Cheers

Nice looking work for sure, far quicker than cutting/welding 3 deep well 1/2" sockets together and shop pressing them into shape.
Curious what would it take for a set of 6 like so?

I'm thinking that $30/pop ($180/set) for fully machined ready-to-weld covers my time.
That being said, I'm completely overwhelmed at the moment (main car & backup car are both down for the count)

When you guys are using 1.5" pipe for you manifold tubes do you mean 1.5" ID or OD??
The 1.5" ID pipe that I have looks massive and wondered if it would affect the pressure. I know it would help top end flow but it would bugger the low rev spool up.

Right I see what you mean thank you. I’ve gone for 36mm ID pipe. I think it will be best suited and the other 42mm ID pipe I have is goanna be too big. The collecter would be a nightmare getting it to fit on the T3
