this is an extremely rare, U.S registered, DIESEL smart fortwo. passion model, with a/c, power windows, power mirrors, full glass moonroof, adjustable headlights, 6 speed auto or manual transmission. powered by a 3 cylinder, mercedes benz turbo diesel with 50k miles. gets 70mpg running on biodiesel.

to be up front and honest, I'm not interested in buying it, but I would love to see a pic of the engine. Where do they put it?

In the back IIRC. I have seen the turbo on it, looks like it belongs on on a big wheel Big Grin

greasy_beast, i sent you a pm. for the rest of you who are interested, as i know i definitely was here is a shot of the engine

the turbo is wee, the intercooler is wee, its all there, just smaller. i think i saw somewhere that the weight of the engine is around a 160lbs.
what really struck me about this car is that mercedes didn't cut out things that i would consider "non-critical", they just found a way to fit all the things in there. it has a/c, which i was surprised by. the intercooler was a bit of a shocker. it has its own portable air compressor for fixing a flat ( no spare tire ). it even has an auxilary electric heater for the cabin because the little engine takes a while to make some decent heat.
there were more surprises too. i was finding things out about this car for months.
it was pretty cool

it will be missed.

engines is in back! is the turbo like the gas one integrated in to the exhaust manifold?

in the back indeed.
to my knowledge the turbo is independent of the exhaust manifold.
but i haven't really gotten into it.
i know there are some pretty good diagrams on the internet tho, just cant find em right now.

That video is very sped up. Its easy to tell by how unnaturally fast the tire smoke moves/dissipates.
