Hello all,

Does anyone know what the extra tube is on the OM648 oil pump? It runs from near the middle of the pickup pipe and down the (UK) passenger side of the pump to nearly the front?

I need to modify it and tuck it closer to the pump as I'm notching the sump to clear some special suspension (off road modified land rover).

I put an om648 pan and pump on my 606. I do remember that tube. I wouldn't fret over it. Just mod it like you plan and don't worry about it. The main critical concern is full submersion to within 1/4" of the bottom of the sump of the pickup tube.

I've no worries about modifying it.... just wondering how. If its not under any pressure its a hell of a lot easier for me to do it in some oil-safe flexible rather than reworking the stainless. I did also wonder about just flattening it slightly.

There is a thread on here somewhere about the 648 pump and those tubes. Do a search on om648 sump and pump. also PM zeeman and tell him I sent you. He's a good guy and has a lot of experience with those pumps.
