Looking for a standard bore OM601 block or complete engine, preferably in the central USA.

Please let me know if you have something that will work.

Isn't the om601 2.2 ltrs? They didn't offer the 2.0L the states. I got a running 1984 2.2 that maybe available. I'm in Los Angeles tho.

I have a 2L (84mm) crankshaft, which is what the 2.0 versions use.

What's the story on that engine? Is it in a car? How much $$?

I just purchased the 190d to use as a transmission donor for my w124 wagon.
The engine starts but i haven't road tested it. It was used as a veggie conversion at one point. I'll have to get back to you on the mileage.
I was under the impression that that Mercedes bored the cylinders for the USA market. I looked into it to see if the om603 turbo piston would fit but came up short because the cylinders had a larger bore. Theyd fit in the 2.0 Euro engines.

OM601 should be 87mm bore. The difference between 2.0 and 2.2 versions is in the stroke of the crankshaft.

I see now that only '84 thru '86 190D are of the 2.2L persuasion here in the States.
1987 (only) had 2.5L turbo and '88 thru '93 had 2.5L N/A.
This info should help narrow the search for others.

Mind sharing what chassis this motor will be in? I'm not a competitor - just interested

It will be in a 1984 Dodge Rampage - not too many of them are MB diesel powered.

I can't imagine they're in the same class. Either way it'll be friggin awesome!
Need a tow "vehicle"? This customized Ranchero has been for sale for well over a year and could probably be bought for under $2k. It's not mine because wifey forbade it.
