Did just try to put in a 2,9 crank with rods and om605 piston in a om605 Turbo block. Fits lite a charm. Just need to cut alittle in the piston skirt for the squirters.

2,9 rods are beefier also.

Wow 400+ views. Not even a comment? Well the engine is built and is in the engine bay now. Lets see this summer how it will hold together.

just thinking out loud but if it's got a longer stroke than a standard 2.5 then would it differ getting to higher rpm than the 2.5. Each stroke having further to go. It would prop be negligible unless you had high tech measuring gear. But in theory.
But if it's got a slightly longer stroke then would that give you more time to get more fuel injected. Be a minuscule amount of time. But every little helps. I really enjoy watching people experimenting with engines. There no books or google to learn from. Just hard work and hours.

Turbo , one question,
did u happen mesure piston skirt out of well distance? i mean how much the piston skirt fall´s of the cylinder well?
my project is on a halt by now , due to a 15month old boy.
maybe next month i have some more info to share.
regards

RPM limited to 7000rpm before. Now its going to be 6500rpm.

Yeah. It will stick out alittle more but nothing to worry about. Piston pin is still just on the inside of the edge. But i wont be running this engine for 500,000km either.

This is an experiment. This engine have been beaten for 2years by me and my girlfriend and needed an overhaul. I had almost no bearings left in the engine, and 1 damage piston that have melted on the side. It have been running without oil once and stalled on idle 2 years ago and my gf drove 2 heat of hill climb this summer with out any water in it. Been pounding the rpm limiter alot when i use it at drifting.

New setup for this engine is also a Baldur DSL1 and a new 8mm Dieselmeken EDC pump.

If it works great then i rebuild my other red spare 605 turbo engine.

Report.
Engine is still running. Runs great. Had it on trackdays, drifting and on and off to work. Only problem was a rear diff that broke in 4th gear on the highway.

Are you running the A611 valve springs in that one? If so, how are they working for you and what is your redline?
