Here is an example of one I came across. with your old engine it might be a challange removing the plug on the side of the block.

there are the one`s for the lower radiator hose, Diesel giant has a DIY that shows one.
check out e-bay they come up there form time to time for the MB. or there are the tank type that are around 1000watt. the MB block heater is only 400watt.

there is also the oil pan heaters that glue on the pan and the magnetic ones. helps to have warm oil as well as a warm block.

If you really want to keep your baby warm, there are also the electric battery blankets Big Grin.

i like the one on diesel giant te best for the lower radiator hose because it is the easiest and best option.

but the problem is that they make it only for the w123 and w126 diesel cars.

the w116 has the same engine and to me the same size lower radiator hose?

can anyone confirm if the diesel giant coolant hose heater will be a direct replacement for the w116 as well??

i also found this site http://www.wolverineheater.com/ is this any good?

thanks
