Making the 722.3 work.
Making the 722.3 work.
What exactly is needed to make the 722 work?
I'm putting one in my g-wagen and I don't exactly have the same set up that the 300sd had when the transmission was in it originally.
I know I need the Vacuum line, and the shifter do-hicky from the gear selector.
But what about the relays and wiring that were originally attached? Also, It seems there is some sort of other accessory shifting linkage attached to the transmission.
What will make this thing work?

Wiring is for the reverse lights and neutral safety switch.
You can run the transmission without the wiring.
.
vacuum line to the modulator there is usually have a vacuum switch/valve hooked up to the throttle linkage on top of the injection pump to act like vacuum on a gas engine vac at idle and none at full throttle!
When I did mine, I had the donor car sitting there to grab all the parts. If you got yours piecemeal, it will be more of a challenge. best bet would be to borrow someone's 300D and see where all the parts are.
tranny should have the following:
>cable that connects to the throttle linkage on the engine valve cover
>back up light switch - connector on back of transmission
>mechanical shift rod from shifter to transmission
>wire harness connector with
>>kick down switch under gas pedal
>>park ignition lockout
>>and if you have it, a kick down switch in the "1" position of the shifter
>vacuum solenoid connectors that go to the blue vacuum amplifier thing that's mounted to the fender (refer to the EGR diagrams on peachparts for exact routing)
