partsgeek axle review?
Anyone bought 123 axles from partsgeek .com?
I notice they have the complete axle assembly for 44 bucks a piece, and a 60 dollar core charge, which once refunded, is an awesome price.
I need a pair for my 240, so I've ordered some, they are an AC cardone axle. Curious on quality of product though

If you get the axles... I have cardone axles from the old Kraigen Auto (now O'Reilly). After 2 years I had a problem of the cans leaking grease, took them off and the two halve cans were loose at the seam. Joints were still excellent. Replaced them under lifetime warranty though. Now 2 years later, one of the cans look like it's flinging grease again. Joint appears to be still good.
I have a set of CVJs that I am going install if the grease gets out of hand.
.
FINALLY got through to the parts geek people. Because I insisted on ordering stuff from a smart phone at 5 in the morning, I misspelled my own email address. Idiotic move, we fixed it and I received 8 emails from them.
Surprised I spelled anything right, ill probably get axles for 1992 ford escort in the mail.
They have shipped already! apart from being unreachable by phone, they work fast!
Ill take a look at the cans when they come to see how its constructed, good call
Do you get a lifetime warranty?

I don't think so, actually cant even find any warranty info on the website. here is a link to the axle choices-
I will inquire

Man you guys work fast...
I have ordered a bunch of stuff from them and have been completely satisfied. My stuff always comes next day because I'm in cali and they have a warehouse near me.
what would have a slightly longer axle, the SDs?
They sent me one incorrect axle, finish quality is decent, definitely worth 44 bucks (If I get my 60 dollar core back)
I am going through the process of trying to exchange the wrong axle and have not yet heard from them.
Here are the old and new-
And the long one is wrong. Must be for an SD since everything else is the same
So these guy's return policy kind of sucks. They sent me the incorrect axle, and now I have to pay shipping to get it back to them. Also, I cannot just exchange the part, I have to fully return this incorrect axle, and buy another axle.
Here is my plan, im not waiting weeks and weeks shipping this stuff back and forth to CA, plus there is a 30 day refund time policy AND they shipped me a box with the part number ripped off and poor condition, so I guarantee that will be a problem for accepting the return.
Im going to take apart the new axle, and install the old axle shaft on the new axle ends, then just return the cores.
Anyone know how complex the attachment is for the shaft to the joint? Ive never taken one of these apart for the MB application, can it be done without cracking open the cans?
That is gay. If they fucked it up they should fix it. You ordered 2 axles for a 123 and they sent you one for a 123 and one for a 126.
That is some super bullshit. Tell them to send the right part like now!!!! And then you might consider ordering from them in the future.
You're going to disassemble a part and rebuild it with older parts? Do whatever you want but that seems like double work.
Sorry for your misfortune.

FUCK THAT SHIT. Whats there number I want to call them myself and yell at them for being dumbasses. I say drive to their headquarters and throw those fucking axles thought their window...

here is their policy from the website-
I got a wrong part, who pays for return shipping?
We do not offer return shipping reimbursement regardless of the party at fault. All returns are freight prepaid by the customer.
It is clearly stated, but what a stupid policy, serves to drive customers away.
I have not been able to reach them, or have gotten a response from them, so if you are ordering from parts geek, here is my recommendation-
Don't order anything that has a core charge, and be prepared to pay for shipping back and lots of BS if they screw up and send you the wrong thing. Otherwise, they ship super fast and have a lot of stuff.
I just read a whole shitload of reviews talking about how slow the return and refund process is, and also the core charge refund process.
My plan now is just to keep the SD axle, resell it, and buy another one from somewhere else, while trying and get them to refund the core charges.
If that works out, It will be only 44 dollars I need to recover from the axle.
What an unnecessary pain in the ass these guys are though, I can't believe how bad their customer service is, answer the phone!

UPDATE-
Ive been form lettered! Ill ship back the cores and see what happens
I'm sorry, but we do not have an exchange program in place at the present time.
We also cannot pay return shipping on a part selected online.
There are two choices.
1. You can reorder the part now.
OR
2. You can wait for your credit (2-4 weeks) and reorder then.
I had the same exact thing happen to me at koperformance dot com.
They gave me the wrong part and had to go through hoops to get a live person, gave him all this information (VIN, year, etc) about the VW I was working on, and then he never did anything. I had to dispute it with my credit card company and they took the charges off. That whole ordeal unpleasant. Ended up getting installing a Chinese made part from O'Reilly where else if they had gotten it right, it would have been a German part.
.
Now there is a good thought.. I have used those fraudulent claims things on a credit/debit card before. But it wasn't against a company that was eventually going to get around to doing the right thing. It was with a straight up 100% scammer.
thought about the charge back method, but I really just want to get my core charges back and be done with the transaction, so I shipped them the cores today for a whopping 45 bucks on my part.
That makes each axle 40 dollars more expensive to get them here without the core, so instead of 44 dollar axles, its really an 84 dollar axle with a refunded core.
Right now the core is not refunded, so what I really have is a pair of 144 dollar axles.
Still cheaper than some other options, but the savings are becoming less impressive
Wow sorry dude. Your a stand up guy too. I have ordered a bunch of little stuff from them that could have been easily screwed up but everything has always come correct

Lets see if they respond. https://www.facebook.com/autopartsgeek?sk=wall&filter=1
got a replacement axle in, this one from rockauto for 100 bucks. Its supposed to also be an AC cardone axle, but it looks like its been through a completely different reman process, and has been on the shelf for a while.
I grabbed their cheaper one that was from an inventory closeout, so no core charge and only a 30 day warranty. They had about 4 choices, up to OEM and ranging from 100-250 or something
the one from partsgeek is definitely superior, and comes with the hub bolt as well, so for about half the price on the cheap option, you get more and better stuff. rockauto is on the bottom
So they refunded my 120 bucks. Still haven't sold the SD axle, any of you SD owners need an SD axle, let me know. Ill charge you exactly what they charged me, 44 bucks plus whatever shipping is.
This was an irritating and unnecessary experience. However, since their selection of available parts is so extensive, ill probably use them in the future for LIGHT stuff that won't cost me a bunch of money to ship back if they screw up.
You wouldn't happen to know the length of the SD versus regular D axles do you? The one I have seems a little bit long, and since I got it from a friend who often just orders things on a whim I don't want to get half way through changing mine only to discover the new one is the wrong size lol

Alright thanks, if mine is shorter than that then I should be in luck
Fuck partsgeek.com
larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?

I'm just gonna order new boots for my dad's car, and put the new axles on mine, then return the old ones for the core, because right now I have a pair of ~$250 axles, which after returning them I'll get $120 back, minus whatever shipping costs are to return the old ones. I should have just bought boots in the first place.
