Monster Hybrid 6 Cyl IP
Monster Hybrid 6 Cyl IP
Literally just had a thought, so I thought I would put it out there and see how off my rocker I am.
For those running 606 engines they are up against a hard wall in regards to element size, and there for delivery duration, at high rates of delivery.
What if a new hybrid pump was made that used the cam of an M pump and the elements of a MW or P pump? That would allow up to 13mm elements to be run on a 606! Either the RW or RSF governor could be used as well.
Now I understand that the cost of such a pump would restrict its use to only a couple of cars, but they would have all the fuel they would want, lol.
Sounds like something for me
But there are 8mm m-pumps that delivers 275cc and that is enough to make over 800 hp on a OM606
P7100 pumps with 12mm elements put out an easy 650cc with no major modifications. I think 13mm would be a little large for any little engine.
Wish it, dream it, do it, but for what purpose? I know what cost there is to just develope a nice element that works OK, ALDA etc, Who would buy it for ex 10000 USD?
lol , worlds fastest idi benz?
i love the idea , OM i think in PM i had asked about cams for the pump, or for the lift pump?
as far as your knowledge of helix angles and there relation to cam duration overlap , could in your (or dieselmekens ) endeavors to make a better element helix. design a camlobe profile to meet or exceed your goals?
the old school guys could take your cam , (idk the process) spray weld material onto the cam to build up the lobe then grind it back to the new desired specs.
what are the major differences between the m-mw pumps cams ?
ill watch this for theory but im missing 1 cyl to be relevant
Or we could use a 12-cylinder pump on a 6-cylinder engine. It has been done plenty of times with dual feed injectors, but good luck driving it on the street.

Matt

You mean like this?

larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?
Is the timing the same on a P pump? Couldn't you just make a crazy adapter to fit a P pump?

(01-28-2013, 01:11 PM)Mark_M Haven't a clue but I suspect if you have to ask you can't afford it. When custom delivery valves are a €1000 I imagine a whole custom pump will be eye watering!

I would love to see some resaults from this

I have my own machine shop, so I have a good idea what it would run to have a billet housing made, but it is always nice to know what the market will support, after all they made it for someone lol

Not really, it would be a total cluster and the governor is designed for slow speed operation compared to the MB engine speeds.
