Mounting Euro bumpers
Mounting Euro bumpers
Picked up some euro bumpers earlier at the junkyard for relatively cheap-ish. Anyway, whoever mounted them on the car I took them off of did not use any stock mounting equipment at all and the mounts are sort of ghetto. The front is terrible, the rear not quite so bad, although I think it could be improved. Anyway, is there a proper way to mount these or what should I do? I am pretty sure I'm gonna have to do a little fabricating, whatever that's cool, at least I'll have some Euro bumpers to go along with my Euro lights
Thanks folks!
Here's a crappy picture of them
All of the euro bumper I have seen over the years are mounted with different home made brackets like that
To get euro cars through US dot they had to have a reinforcement behind the bumper!
I saw a car with a broom stick painted silver stuck behind a euro bumper before lol
larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?
Don't put euros on the back ask purple what happens when you get rear ended

Well I plan on beefing up the rear and fabbing up a heavy duty hitch receiver at the same time, and leaving some hitch ball or maybe a hook sticking out back there (for work ) so if I get hit their car is fucked lol
But in all seriousness, the 5 mph bumpers are a necksaver. Had a friend down the street (young girl) who was nailed in the rear (smirk) by a big trash truck. Car was pushed like 8 ft while stopped. Nothing happened to the W123. The impact strip was even fine. With Euros, most likely would have been way more serious. A hitch is going to put a hole in a plastic bumper, and thats about it. Its about 4 inches of non-impact resistant steel sticking out behind the bumper.
Don’t loose sight of what Mercedes did to make these cars extraordinary.
In all seriousness Here is a Toyota Corolla vs w123 wagon with American bumpers I think the 300td won!

I'll be sticking with my euro bumpers as I don't daily drive my car it's only out during nice weather! But these pictures really show what they can do with the American crash bumpers
I wish that would happen to me. Then I'd be like, 'Hey fucker, you cracked my signal lens!"
But actually my bumpers are tucked so I would never be so lucky
I plan on beefing them up substantially. Also thinking about maybe mounting them on big ass leaf springs, my dad said one of his college buddies had a 32 Chevy that had the bumpers mounted on leaf springs and it made contact with all kinds of shit and stuff would just bounce off.

Keep some kind of bumper shock in there, even if it's just a leaf spring. One of these days I need to retrofit my truck with merc bumper shocks....people like ot hit me in parking lots and drive off
