I will change my my 722.3 into a 722.6 in my westfalia camping bus. I have a W602 T1 with OM 602.940 2.9l no Turbo 98hp. Now I have high rpm at highway driving at 90-100km/h. A 722.6 with a 5th gear would solve this problem. I have colllected some parts and informations for the swap, next step is get one of olefejer`s awesome gearbox controllers.
But i have only one question, can i put a 722.3 exit flansch on a 722.6?
Bacause i have a 6 bolt flansch without flexdisks, same system as mercedes G.

I have a spare 722.6 and measured the back flange....
The oilseal journal is 42mm dia.
The splines are 30mm between peaks of splines. i.e. An un-splined shaft of 30mm would be a sliding fit.
This was a disappointment for me cos I was hoping to fit the flange from my 722.6 to a Getrag 717.450 manual to save having different ends on my shaft. Getrag has 27.5mm splines and 40mm journal.
Suggest you measure your 722.3 flange and compare.
Do you know what back axle the Westfalia uses? It might be easier to change the diff ratio.

The diff ratio of my axle is i:4,4, that is almost the "logest" ratio that you can get, 4,1 would fit, but it give me only 7%, a 722.6 about 20%. I don´t want to change that, because i need a short 1st gear for uphill driving with my 215 85 16 tires. I found the part number of the back flange from a722.6 fron G class, A 4632720245. This will work, if my flansch would not fit to a 722.6.
