I need some sound tech advice. I have read a lot but the info is in 100 different places and conflicting.

Im in the predicament of having this trans but missing the good stuff.

-What crossmember works with my trans next to a 617 in a w123. How hard is it to find that one? Any part numbers? pictures?

-The shifter anybody got a part #? I've read that a different shifter may work. Any experience in using the other shifer?

I have a shifter pn 124 267 01 40, i wonder if it will work.

I was looking into this when you posted in FS about your shifter issue. That sucks. The 124 and 201 shifters have a bunch of 201 part#s but the 123 5 speed shifter is all w123 stuff. The 123033 was the first model I found that used the 717.400 trans.

Looks like it's a 1232422601. A little pricey. I'd look into modding the one you have.

I'm not sure if your 124 shifter will work. It should make for some goofy shifting if you had to work the reverse lockout every time you went into 2nd, as you can see from the shift pattern on the 5 speed shifter page.

Lol anybody want to buy my shifter? That would make for some slow shifting with the getrag. I may have to experiment with that other 201 shifter than. That must be what people were talking about when using the 201 shifter. Apparently the passenger side holes line up, i would just have to drill two holes for the driver's side. Being that I have no linkage i would have to fiddle with it anyhow. At least that's what the word on the street is.
Disagreements? Failed attempts?

Ok google helped with price. I see 100-127 Do we know if the x member is the same used in an automatic wagon? Some have hinted at that. I am not skilled enough with the epc to figure it out. Thanks again.

I'd say if you found a block starting with 616 or 617 you are on the right track. Passenger side starter. I forget but maybe one model of gasser.

I have everything for a 4 speed swap from a donor 83 300D euro car, except the 3 shifter arms that attach to the transmission and link up with the long rods that come from the shifter. I believe I am looking for the arms under part # 146 and 149. 2@146 and 1@149 in the diagram on the link above. post#2

the shifter is the big one, once you have that, the rods you can manufacture out of random shifter rods.

On my 240 I used an automatic shifter rod, and a couple spare extra 115 rods. You can cut, play, and bend these perfect if you get a good shifter.

Sounds like the 201 chassis might work

I have the correct shifter and even the rods that connect to the shifter itself. What I am missing is on the other end of the rods....small arms that attach the rods to the transmission itself. These arms would attach to the three stubs sticking out the side of the transmission...that move the synchros.

The rods I have came from the same euro donor 617n/a car the transmission, flywheel, shifter peddles, driveshaft came from. The donor car was missing those arms on the transmission...the rods were just hanging from the shifter not connected to anything when I got the car. I don't believe that I will have to modify these rods since they are from a 300d car and are going into a 300d car (albeit a wagon). I just need the arms...146 and 149 in the picture on post #2 of this thread. Since there are three of them, it looks like I will need two of the arms pictured as #146 and one arm pictured #149. Are these arms the same between the slope-back and the flat-back iron 4 speeds?

I have everything needed for what I believe to be a plug and play bolt in conversion for my 300d wagon except these arms. Thanks, guys.
