OM602 problem, stumped.
OM602 problem, stumped.
I have a 91 300D, original engine blew up with the help of someone over reving it during a diesel purge. I got replacement engine which looks like it came from a 190D.
Problem I got it turn off the engine then 4 seconds later the engine turns off. Heres what ive done, checked vacuum at the shut off valve, and it holds vacuum. Second the brown line connecting to the shut off valve has vacuum. The main vacuum line from the booster is rigged at the check valve where the othe brown line for the ignition is. I got new one coming. Before the engine swap engine shut off right away. Second feels like a dog still with 0-60 range of 18 seconds, and ideas? Going to get the turbo rebuilt or modified to have a bigger commpressor housing. Someone in Cali is known to modify these turbos just forgot who. Thanks again, sorry for ignorance

Performance issue is probably caused by a clogged Alda fitting. On the left side of the intake manifold, find the electrical sensor. This is the overboost sensor. Directly below that is a fitting with a rubber connector leading to a vacuum line, this is the Alda fitting. Remove the fitting and connector and check to see that they are free of soot. If this doesn't cure it, follow the line back to the left inner fender, it will lead to a vacuum switchover valve. The valve may not be functioning correctly.

Doesn't the 602 have a vacuume controlled wastegaste? I supect a vacuume issue somewhere...

I see a vacuum line attached to the wastegate on the turbo. How can findbmp. out what om602 engine u have.
Does the hose curve back around to a fitting in the neck of the turbo? If so, it's a pressure wastegate control. If it goes into a valve, probably on the inner fender, it's a vacuum control. The photo shows a pressure control 190D turbocharger.
It goes to the valve in the fender well. It was pressure set up, but switched over. I got the car to shut off on key. Damn main vacuum line from the pump to the booster was bad. Check valve was rigged. So happy now. Now to rebuild the turbo to see if i get some performance back.
