Im trying to select a gearbox for my om606 and im looking for something that has a decent spread. I want longer gearing from 1st-3rd and a long 6th.

Anyone know where I can find the info to compare various gearboxes?

Nice one but I dont think thats right. A 220cdi and a 270cdi wont have the same ratios. If that was the case then there wouldnt be such a wide range of gearboxes available.

RIght now I have the option to get a couple of gearboxes at a very reasonable price. One is from a 220cdi and the other is from a 180 kompressor. Which one do I go for? Or do I get a totally different box?

It's almost certain that a sporty gas motor will be paired with a closer ratio gearbox than a slower revving diesel.

Anyone know how I go about connecting the speedo?

In a W124 a electronic speedo is used from a late V8 with a fabricated 4 tooth tone ring for the VR sensor pickup. See Druk's pics in the flex disc thread below for his tone ring idea.
