Can`t choose between 603\606.
Hello there guys, i cant choose engine, which i should use in my project, om606 or om603, turbo. Am i right, that om603 have no ECU, so it will less electrical problems with it? What about durability of om603 and om606, which one is better in this? I want to have about 200hp and 400 n/m torque. So, what engine should i use to get it with less problems? I dont want to have any sensors problems, any check engine light. Just want an engine, which will work without troubles a long time
Cheers.
An om606 with a custom om603 injection pump is the best it will make the most power with out electronics

Both om606 and om603 should have EGR but it can be blocked off. The only thing the computer controlled was the injection pump. if you use the mechanical pump off an om603 the om606 will run with out the sensors.
The om603 turbo also had a computer and airflow meter to adjust idle but that can be removed and the idle can be manually set

(10-11-2013, 12:10 PM)aaa I would recommend a custom 603 pump. You will need at least 6mm elements which are not available on the non-electronic pumps, so you can get 603 pump modified for larger elements.Where can i find such elements? Here, in Russia, its not popular at all, so i dont have any ideas where can i find such things.

Well, I just drove my car for the first time around town, It's a om603.912 with a HX35w and a 7mm pump. Running at 0.8 bar. I'm amazed how fast it is. I have the stock exhaust at the moment so i'm keeping it at a low boost for the moment. Smoke is really bad. It needs boost bad. So i think a hx35 is a little too big. I also don't know how the 6mm feeds the turbo. But if the 6mm pump can power a hx35 go for it. It's also nice for future mod's up to 300 hp if you want that. I can tell you, once you driven a high power diesel you want more and more.
I love the Volga's by the way. Sounds cool that you want to build a 606 in it. Keep us updated on that.
