Boooo! There's nothing "super" about a K26!
Why not upgrade?
I've got a nice used Garrett GT2256v with fried electronics that I'd probably sell/trade. It'd give you near instant boost once setup properly and moves more air on the top end too. It has a unique flange that would need adaptation but its worth the work.

That's funny, after more and more reading today, I decided I was gonna try and go find a GT2256v this weekend at the pick n pull. No good deals on eBay for one right now. How much you want for it with shipping to 20814?

No shipping needed! We live in the same (small) state!
If you come pick it up in Hunt Valley, MD it'll only cost you $150.
This is only because you're a std member and drive a turbodiesel jeep!

I'd really rather you inspected the turbo in person since we're local to one another. I'm in no hurry and the turbo isn't "for sale" anywhere else so its yours when you're ready for it.

So I was actually wondering about the Renaults, because I saw one on eBay, a GT2256V from a Renault, and I believe it had a T3 flange already

Yeah, look here, in the last picture, you can see a T3 manifold gasket.

The price and origin would keep me from buying it though. At 50% maybe.

Yeah, its a china turbo, but I did see one just like it on eBay like a week ago that was an oem from a Renault and it did have a t3 also. Cant remember what year it was. Guessing they were a euro only model. Looks like it is clocked just about right too.

I actually broke down and bought a K26 off a 300SD on eBay for $150 with shipping included. Going to try it out first since its bolt on and I need to change my turbo drain seal anyways. If I am not satisfied then I will probably go for the GT2256V.

I can appreciate the simplicity of bolt-on. If my 2256 were then it'd already be bolted into something. I hope it solves your problem.
I can't guarantee that it'll be available later. If I find an adapter that's affordable it'll be used by me.

K26 turbos are a pretty bad bottle neck. I don't mean to rain on your parade, but me and a friend have found this out. We just turned up his 300SD, and the KKK turbo cant keep up and all, and gets very hot. We don't have a pyro yet, but honestly I am kind of scared to see how hot it is getting Big Grin

Got the K26 installed yesterday and drove it to work. Not lightning in a bottle, but I can definitely feel it picking up quicker and gets to max boost much faster than the Garrett did. It does run hotter, but I am pretty sure thats because I havent hooked up my manual boost controller. The Garrett set at 13psi would rarely break 1000. The K26 maxing at the stock 10psi heats up to around 1050-1100 on the highway doing 65-70. Should cool down a lot with a little more boost.

I will still end up doing the GT2256V, but I am going to wait until after I regear to 4.56. 3.73 gears with 32" tires just doesnt work, doesnt hit the powerband in 3rd gear until way too late.
