W124 V8 steering box
W124 V8 steering box
Hi!
I got a "Sportline" V8 steering box from the dealership for a - let's say very fair price... Now I'm wondering - does it fit normal W124s? In what aspect exactely is it different? So far I noticed the adjuster is on the bottom, instead of the top.
Thank you!
It's not urgent, I still have a perfect 230E Sportsline gearbox which too has the about 3 turns lock to lock. But if that should ever wear out... This brand new baby might take it's job
I think the bores for the inner tie rod end and the relay rod in the pitman arm are larger, requiring a swap to the V8 linkage. I think the output shaft is a larger diameter than the regular 124 stuff, preventing a pitman arm swap. Pitman arms and idler arms should match because the linkage bore placement in each arm must match.
That's all? That would be awesome! I had to swap it allready, as the bore was increased in '89(?) anyway.

Hi!
Quick EPC-check; the 400E has got the same steering arms & hub & flange as the R129. Guess what's in my boot...
Complete R129 front suspension!
Perfect!
Thanks for oyur input!
