looked hard at the pic and I'm pretty sure it's a 5 speed.

They didn't make that car w/ a 5 speed unless someone performed one of those g265 swaps

Simple google search of the vin shows this car was for sale before the wreck. Very nice looking car, but a 4 speed.

I'm quite certain they did make the 280SL with a 5 speed, although in retrospect not necessarily that year. most of the ones I've seen have been 83 or 84.

Mark Turnbull in UK made a swap kit, his site seems to be down. It was to swap g256 into a w113, they are out there if you are looking.
