Scary low oil pressure
Scary low oil pressure
so my 240 has been having a oil pressure issue. i changed the oil, and replaced all the o-rings in the canister, and it was better for a while, and now its back to being no good. once its warm its goes to maybe 1/4 to the 1 bar mark, i f i shift before i reach 20 in first it'll drop below 3, same with 25 in 2nd. used to not do this.
I'm thinking its the oil pump, just hoping there's another simple answer out there. if it is the oil pump then does anyone know if the om617 pump will actually work? i've read about people argueing but seemed no1 really knew. this is a 616.912 if that makes a dif. seems at some point in time the used a shaft drive, but the 617 pump i have is chain driven. at least the one i have is.
if someone has a pic of a 616 with oil pan off that would be super cool. this is my dd.
A pump from a 617.95x won't work as it's direct chain driven.
One from a 617.912 might work...but I would check if the pressure relief valve has stuck open first
check correct pressure by directly ataching a gauge to the place where the transmitter is.
if press btw 1bar and 1,5 in idle , and min 3 bar at 3000rpm, u have a draw between pressure transmiter, and cluster. installing a new press transmitter should solve the draw.
oil pump damage naanana. not like that......
(06-30-2015, 11:03 PM)Pull off the lower pan and see if the rubber pickup is gone, I can\t remember if the 616 had a rubber pickup or just the 617 but you just may be needing that part Edian727 so my 240 has been having a oil pressure issue. i changed the oil, and replaced all the o-rings in the canister, and it was better for a while, and now its back to being no good. once its warm its goes to maybe 1/4 to the 1 bar mark, i f i shift before i reach 20 in first it'll drop below 3, same with 25 in 2nd. used to not do this.

yea it's a mechanical guage. didnt think it'd be the problem. i can always grab another gauge and see what it reads.
I'll check for that rubber deal. i have driven it up mountains and my oil pan is pretty bashed, in fact it was when i got it, but im sure ive done damage. if thats the culprit im stoked. i already have a new oil pan so i can weld a turbo return or 2 into it, so ill throw that on and check for the rubber pick-up. Thanks guys!
well i got a 617 n/a pump out of a 115. it'll bolt in, but the pick up sits back further and wont fit on the 616. i did change the pan and the rubber pick-up. wont know if its fixed till tommorow though.
the pan was really bad, theres a crescent shaped mark were the pan was smashed into the oil pump pick-up. that might be a big reason for the low pressure, im hoping.
