3 degrees advanced timing.
3 degrees advanced timing.
On my OM606 I just set the timing about 3 degrees advanced. I just want to make sure this is safe. I used 11.5 atdc instead of the 14.5. Motor is noticeably louder but I did have my motor set at 16 degrees atdc. Sounds more like my cat direct injection motor!
It's so hard to tell what too noisy is when you dont know. It's more noisy then what it was. How much are most people advancing it? I went for 16 to 11 and before it was just quiet with no clatter. Now I hear clatter but I wouldn't consider it nailing. It sounds more like my 617 engine. I wish more people actually checked there timing when they advanced it.
I should mention my 2k all the clatter is gone.
hey , turbotim who the f/&%$% cares with 12 or 13 or what ever degres u can check out with the RIV machine or the locking tool, the thing inside the pump can be assembled anywhere from 17 to 20º ..... dadda a and daaa .
if u really what to know till where u can get it trully , u got to find a stroboscopic light device!!! then u can read real advance , my car runs in the 17.5 to 18 BTDC. MB say u should use it at 16º .
u said it was louder , it shouldn´t be lauder just cause u advanced it 2ºC that is nothing......
Dieselmeken says to time his pumps at 10-12*.

Mine is timed at 11 atdc with a 7.5mm dieselmeken pump.
It is certainly louder, more of a rasp I would say. Indeed a higher revs smooth as silk.
Still louder than 6mm elements at 14 atdc but so much more power
I will if you like upload some cold and hot idling videos?
