Using the arduino as a tach signal generator.
My Tach stopped working when I forgot to swap the adapter plates when I swapped engines. The tach signal from the front of the car is going to require additional electronics (amp the signal) so I am going to use the alternator as the signal source. One problem I see with this is preventing a failed regulator (voltage spikes) from frying the arduino. I am looking into ways to mitigate that.
Add a stock tach amp. Its wiring is extremely simple and won't take much more than 30 minutes.

My sensor on the front is shot as well and getting to that bolt isn't very easy. Also I am going to use the signal in conjunction with speedo and others for vane control.
Maybe you can drill a hole somewhere in the intermediate plate for the RPM sensor. I don't think it would have to be in the same location, just it has to be able to "count" the teeth on the ring gear.
Should of, should of should of... When you changed out your flywheel, that would of been a good time to swap out the plate. I have one sitting around.
I have real bad chatter in first and second at low power and driveline vibrations as well so I may be taking it off soon enough. Race car is down to the flywheel, I need to go back and get it off as well as the adapter.

What? With your new $700 flywheel? Yikes!
