SLS delete
SLS delete
Why do you want to delete SLS suspension?
You might need to replace springs too. SLS springs are usually much softer.
The reason I want to delete the system is because I can't fix it. I tried to fix it the original shocks were leaking oil I wanted new ones but they are expensive around $400.00 each so I found a good set used not leaking now but still rides bad as the previous shocks. I don't know know what to do to fix the problem
Nitrogen spheres. They do the damping. Just recently got new ones on a sedan and made a huge difference
If shock is not leaking it`s fine. Shocks replaced usually because of worn ball joint.
Most problematic is hydrospheres like NZScott described.
I'm going to hijack this thread. I am wanting to delete the sls on my 85 300td. I found the springs that are supposed to work this delete from this very useful sls thread. http://www.superturbodiesel.com/std/show...457&page=3
here are the springs: https://www.carpartsdiscount.com/catalog...593=269299
My question is do a really need to swap the springs for it to be DRIVABLE. This is a cheap 300k beater and if I can get away with using the factory springs I will, but if a can't than so be it.
(05-09-2017, 12:27 PM)daniel I deleted it in my W123 300TD. A little more involved than just swapping shocks.
You need to delete the SLS Pump, upgrade the springs, use Bilstein HD's, etc.
I'll find part numbers when I get home!

larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?

Be the change you want to see in the world. Go get some junkyard jeep springs and jam them in there. Just eyeballing it, Jeep WJ front springs look skinny enough to fit-those can be pulled without a compressor. Just unhook the steering linkage, shocks, and you can flex them out.

I bought the sls delete kit from propigskin and I have to say I am very impressed. My cheap beater wagon rides better than my sedan, which also has new shocks. Very happy with the results
I deleted my SLS in my also W124 300TD 113HP wagon ´91, take out all system, from pump to spheres, hidraulic lines...all, fitted front Bilsteins B6 from Ford Maverick-Nissan Terrano .
I keep stock springs, but think need harder, for example when gas tank is full the rear comes down some centimeters, and when is empty is taller. Some year I´ll fit harder ones, for example the heavy W140 V12 will be harder? and cut if neccesary.
Edit: what stupidy I said, rear springs of W140 models are different. Sorry....

You can also have custom springs made to order for a decent price, it might be worth looking for a spring shop near you
