OM617 oil filter adapter question
OM617 oil filter adapter question
Hey guys. Working on my 617 getting it ready for the swap and have a quick question. I have been considering using an oil filter relocation adapter from either Koch or Doomsday Diesel to change it over to a spin on filter. If I do this, will it be possible to access the rear of the injection pump for tuning without removing it?
Thanks in advance!
Provided the thing you need to shift the housing out of the way for isn't in the way

Ahaa
The stock filter system is engineering genius IMO with ease of servicing along with the fact it has a built in bypass filter.
You're not really going to make that many pump adjustments are you? Keeping the stock pump I guess you would do a few but once they're done that's it, and taking the whole pump off each time isn't actually that bad. Your engine however so you're free to do as you please
larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?
If you relocate it, relocate the stocker. It makes for nice clean oil changes.

OK, looks like I'll keep the stock setup and utilize that $100 elsewhere on the engine. I was thinking I could avoid pulling/replacing/timing the IP during the tuning process (I've been told it's about 4 hours off/on), and was interested to think I could keep using the same PH16 filters the old engine takes, but I know when to take good advice.
Takes about 10 mins to take off and a bit longer to get on to time it so dunno where 4 hours comes from
