With so much time on my hands, I'm strongly considering it.
Over the last few months, I've collected a variety of photos of various setups... different turbos, different manifolds, and so on.
I'm looking for basic tips/recommendations for moving forward.
What worked for you? And equally important, what didn't?

After a long break from playing with this stuff, and a reminder from Greazzer, I have resumed the effort to put piston squirters in a 616 block. When I last looked at it I ended up with the conclusion that I was going to have to make custom ones because it did not look like there was enough material in the 616 block to tolerate the machining to put 617a squirters in it. However last week I finally got around to tearing down the 617a i have and got the block up on a mill to measure the geometry and see how it looks in the 616 block.

I now am of the thinking that as long as the side wall thickness of the 616 block is not too thin after the machining work is done, that MB squirters could be added. It is looking like it were require a shim spacer to be made and placed between the squirter and the block to set the squirter height correctly. The tip of the squirter actually fits inside the piston and below the crank throw so things are tight.

I had to make a custom cutter to machine the base pad but realized the mill that I have the 616 block on does not have a Z-Axis scale so i will address that. I want to know exactly where everything is.

Greazzer asked me is this was something that any machine shop could do and if they can find a proper cutter then they could do it. I will know more once I have squiters on the test block.
