Is it possible to run an OM611 standalone?
Hey Guys,
Please excuse my bad English, but I am from Germany, so English is not my natural language.
Since nearly one year I am looking for a good C220 CDI. But nearly all the cars I have seen are rotten or have very high mileage.
I have an 1994 C180 in very nice condition with only 85.000 kilometers (roundabout ~53.000 miles). So I'm wondering, if it's possible, to buy a rusty C220 CDI and swap engine, gearbox and diff.
But I think it's difficult, because my early W202 has very simple electric and the CDIs have can-bus fbs3-keys and all that stuff. So I am curious, if it's possible, to run the OM611 without the immobilizer and all THAT stuff, that it works in my early W202.

Thank you for the answer! I know the Baldur-controller (and I'm sure it works great). But the german TÜV didn't like aftermarket-ecus very much, so it could be difficult, to get the car road legal.
I would prefer, to make the swap road legal with the oem-ecu. Later I could build in the DID1-controller for tuning the engine.
But is it possible? I worked a lot on M111 and M104, that is really easier.
That is unfortunate the regulations are so strict, but understandable. Factory ECU would be nice, but must know somebody handy with EDC 15 it appears. Blacksmoke has one on their website.
Some reading, this one isn't a om611 but the cr six:
