Yes it is! Document everything... switching to that block opens up a lot of doors for newer transmissions as well... have you considered swapping in a manual?

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - Hotrodbenz - 05-17-2012

if i can find a manuel i would even with the mods im doing to the 722.3 i dont expect it to live key as to why im building it first trans gotta learn some how lol the biggest thing is i cant find one around here for a 603 i would love a 5 speed i could make a shifter work ive got a full fab shop in my shop but in oklahoma im having a hell of a time trying to find and afford a 5 speed or a 6 speed im fine with a 5 speed i can have a local shop build the clutch to hold the power and make the pressure plate clamp the biggest deal is finding the damn tranny theres tons of them way up north but they want 700 or more for the trans then id need slave master and pedal assy shifter fly wheel and much more i cant think of right off hand have the hx35 and the intercooler as whell as a 4in dp off my cummins have every thing for the propane and just got the snow kit ill take good pics with my iphone and keep you all posted now to learn to up load from my phone directly

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - Hotrodbenz - 05-18-2012

working for autozone has to be the worst job ever no one should have to sell auto parts in a red polo and slacks and the shit coustomers say like when they ask you a question and you give them an answer then they tell you your lying this is a common occurance ive been working on cars my whole life and been working in shops since i was 14 or so i know my shit any way....on the better note i did what i think may be a rebuild on a 722.325 or at least did a dry run with the parts on my table haha now i will tear it down and do it with all new parts i will post the web site im using for my assyembly help and im using a atgs sm way help full and didnt seem to hard once you learn the parts its a matter of sliding the one thing inside the other its like loosing you vcard all over again lol its elementry my dear watson haha

I used to have to make and deliver pizzas in a red polo shirt and slacks, lol. Needless to say I bought the sturdiest most stain resistant slacks I could find, and somehow managed to keep them from getting too many sauce stains and what not on them

and the pizza place had 3 or 4 pot dispensaries within a mile of it, so yeah, people would come in and say allll kinds of crazy shit haha

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - Hotrodbenz - 05-18-2012

Haha whell time to take a brake for the weekend I'll be outta town and work all day Sunday back on her Monday for a tear down and proper build also here's the link I us
http://www.ganzeboom.net/images1/ganzeboom/parts/Mercedes/722.3,%20722.4.pdf
This was a lot of help with all the gaskets and the small bearings and such

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - Hotrodbenz - 05-21-2012

Well didn't work ony trans but did start pulling the om617 and trans should go quicker fr here on out any one know what the ECM did on the om603 and if I needed it cuz I didn't pull it or save the harness just hacked it in half and pulled the motor I've herd like idle control and shit but idk haven started my motor since pulling it as soon as I do get it in and the new exhausts manifold built I will be getting the twins built and installing my intercooler it sucks that there's no nice way to hide it but I'm going to try and tuck it in front of the radiatir or in the front lower valance and I want to build a front lip but don't know how it will look

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - aaa - 05-22-2012

You don't need the ECM.

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - Hotrodbenz - 05-22-2012

It will run good with out it how can I delete the wires

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - aaa - 05-22-2012

Either by simply tossing the harness completely or redoing the harness, depending on how many sensors you want to keep. I imagine there are one or two temperature sensors you'd want to hook into the 123 wiring, for climate control and whatever, plus the AC.

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - Hotrodbenz - 05-22-2012

What's this a/c you Speke of... It's a race car not a cruiser roll down the windows

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - Hotrodbenz - 05-22-2012

Just when I was dreading the worst and fearing I would actually have to build this trans I found a whole 190e with a wait for it wait for it it's got a 5 speed haha I do however need 123 clutch and brake pedal assyembly and a 5 speed shifter would be nice but I can make the 201 shifter work I think

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - w123love - 05-22-2012

Holla at me in a PM if you need a pedal assembly...

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - JB3 - 05-23-2012

2 of the 201 shifter holes will line up and screw in stock, you will have to drill 2 holes for the other 2 bolts, otherwise it will work just fine on the 123 body.

Did you grab the shift gasket too? that will be needed also, the 123 one does not really work for this stick assembly

oh, and pics need to be added to this thread! Big Grin

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - willbhere4u - 05-23-2012

Is the starter on the correct side?

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - Hotrodbenz - 05-23-2012

It's a 190e I got the whole car for 500 after finding a collector who is very interested in my project and at my age very impressed with my passion

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - Hotrodbenz - 05-24-2012

More good news today I found a 60 trim t3 from my mustang hiding in the bottom of a box along with a 50 trim both look massive next to my 45 trim on my om617 and tiny necpxt to my vt50 lol bad news was later to follow my horse was found in the woods bleeding profusely from a front and rear hoof so there will be a pause in the progress after the vet bill I haven't seen yet but I can't seem to think it will be cheap

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - Alastair E - 05-27-2012

Well--Hope your horse hasnt suffered much and is OK now....

I'll be following this quite close, plan a 606 into W123 (IF I ever get some spare cash!_)

Good news from Dropnosky on the W201 shifter and the W123 mounting-holes...

--So, Theoretically, I could get a rotten 2.5D 5-speed W201 with manual trans and just change the whole lot from engine back-plate rearwards into the W123, on the back of the 606....

Dunno at the mo just Where to get W126 engine-mount arms though--Not a particularly common car here anymore!....

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - Hotrodbenz - 05-27-2012

the 603 came out of a ugly w126 so i go my arms with my motor witch rules

horse will be recovering after many many expences and plenty of time no rideing for me this summer

RE: i belive its time to start a thread - Captain America - 05-29-2012
