OM617 compound turbos
Design wise that was terrible, but it sure gets Madmax points
That setup on the hood would have been nice bird catcher on also
what was wrong with the design?
I personally liked the look of it, it was unconventional, awesome, and made a statement.
I am also glad you took it apart it looked bad. I always see you post about other peoples adventures and you go and do this. I personally think you should of tried harder on the design there are other ways of making this work. Also don't think Jeemu is scared that you are trying compound he has been there done that but didn't have to replace a hood to do it.
Naaaaa. I loved the hood ornament Turbo and stack but didn't like the filter setup...
Ditto. I wish he would have finished it completely so we could have gotten some report of the results of all that work. Definitely gave me some ideas though.

I agree. The only reason it was outside the hood was because the intercooler occupies the space above the main turbo. Anyone with the log intake and no ufo-filter would hav little trouble fitting a compound under the hood, I'm just not willing at all to give up my A/W intercooler and w115 intake.
the creativity for rat rod design here in CA has stagnated. during the original rockabilly area teens cobbled cars together because of a lack of $$$. today ppl of all walks "build them" (here in CA it usually means commissioning someone else to do it for you) and money is never an issue when it comes to buying coolness. you coulda gotten a pretty penny for it here - especially considering old diesels are smog exempt!
