Is a HE351Ve too big for OM617??? - Actros617 - 03-01-2010 Just wanting to know is a HE351Ve too big for a OM617?? What kind of boost can i get out of them. I am not trying to get 500 hp here but, just a good turbo upgrade instead. RE: Is a HE351Ve too big for OM617??? - winmutt - 03-01-2010 Thats the general concensus but nobody has tried. Physically its HUGE. RE: Is a HE351Ve too big for OM617??? - ForcedInduction - 03-01-2010 Yes, its a very large turbo both in airflow and weight. Its the same as an HX40 (60x86mm compressor) and it weighs 50lbs. Generally, all Holset turbos can "only" do 30-35psi, its the airflow capability that differs. If you need more pressure than that, you need compounds and/or porting. RE: Is a HE351Ve too big for OM617??? - Actros617 - 03-01-2010 How about a HE431Ve??? RE: Is a HE351Ve too big for OM617??? - ForcedInduction - 03-02-2010 Thats basically an HX50 and its used on 10.0L engines. Nothing under 5.0L would be able to flow enough air to use it, even an extremo-modded OM606. Don't even bother asking about the HE551Ve or HE561Ve turbos, you'd need to split it across two engines to handle that much flow. |
