Seeking Manual Shutoff & Vacuum Cover - SixSpeed - 07-21-2010 Hey Guys, Someone I know in Iceland has an OM617 in a Unimog. While looking through his photos I found this: http://www.pbase.com/jonash/image/22641788 He confirmed the cover was a MB part, but didn't have a part #. Waiting to see what model it came from. Some things get lost in translation I think. Anyways, this means two things to me, I can simplify making a vacuum pump cover, and #2, most importantly, engines fitted with a vacuum pump cover wouldn't have vacuum (durrrr) so therefor no vacuum shutoff. Anyone have any info on maybe a mechanical shutoff? Trying desperately to find out, as I will be retrofitting this to my truck. THANKS! RE: Seeking Manual Shutoff & Vacuum Cover - Rudolf_Diesel - 07-21-2010 You can hook up a cable to operate the shutoff, not sure about the plate, but I would just make one out of your metal of choice. RE: Seeking Manual Shutoff & Vacuum Cover - willbhere4u - 07-22-2010 I would rig up a universal choke cable in place of the shut off solenoid! RE: Seeking Manual Shutoff & Vacuum Cover - ForcedInduction - 07-22-2010 If the engine came without a vacuum pump it should have a non-vacuum stop mechanism. Since the cover is an MB part then look through the world EPC and you should find what MB used for those engines. However, I believe the engines the cover was made for are the old pneumatically governed injection pumps which means they already had the "gorilla knob" start/stop system. There are also many compact electric vacuum pumps. Ford uses one in the Powerstroke models thats about the size of a fist. Part number 6C3Z2A451A. |
