1985 om617 ip - peterson - 08-21-2010 have a 1985 617, need to eliminate any unnecessary electronics egr exc. the ip has some type of wiring harness that is coming off the ip, that is my main concern does it need to be wired up for proper operation? engine is going in a jeep project. i do have access to other ips if need be. RE: 1985 om617 ip - Alastair E - 08-21-2010 no, there are no elect connections that I can think of--Those 'wires' are prolly the vac. pipes and turbo-boost pressure pipes etc.... RE: 1985 om617 ip - Graminal95 - 08-21-2010 Some 85's had a rack position sensor on them, I think they were mostly cali editions but I have seen one or two on fed cars. RE: 1985 om617 ip - ForcedInduction - 08-21-2010 The rack sensor is just used for the EGR. It won't affect engine operation if unplugged and the EGR disabled. RE: 1985 om617 ip - winmutt - 08-22-2010 The only operational difference on the engine is the pilot bearing size. RE: 1985 om617 ip - ForcedInduction - 08-22-2010 Plus the RPM pickup for the tachometer and vacuum components for the transmission shifting. RE: 1985 om617 ip - peterson - 08-22-2010 ok sounds good, thanks for the response. Yes there are numerous changes off the engine on the 85. ECU etc etc etc |
