A 617.952 build for Land Rover - sweden - 01-06-2009 Hi. Im been building a 617.952 for my Land Rover. This is the second Land Rover I have built with this engine. The first Land Rover was based on a 617.912 but turbo converted by me. I use this engine because of its reability. The truck was built by me from zero to running. Hope you find it intresting, please ask if something is unclear. /Sam RE: A 617.952 build - winmutt - 01-06-2009 (01-06-2009, 11:21 AM)sweden Hi. OOOO More pictures! This is pretty interesting. RE: A 617.952 build - ForcedInduction - 01-07-2009 Whats going on with that alternator, how many amps does it put out? RE: A 617.952 build - sweden - 01-07-2009 (01-07-2009, 04:14 AM)ForcedInduction Whats going on with that alternator, how many amps does it put out?It puts out 185 amps, its brushless, its army proven, and its made in US. 800 Euros. I do need to change the belts get bigger ones with better friction. I have 2 electric winches on the truck, one in front with twin engines, one winch in the rear with a single engine. 3 batteries total 2400 cranking amps, batteries sits at the rear of the truck to keep weight distrubution as good as possible. All batterie cables are 70 mm2. /Sam RE: A 617.952 build - Lincolnlock - 01-13-2009 The alternator is a Leece Neville. It's what they use on class 8 semi trucks for power. Good work on the Rover! It would be awesome to take one of my offroad rigs to Africa to complete! What transmission are you putting behind the 617? Is there something that just bolts up? RE: A 617.952 build - Defender - 02-25-2009 Hi Sam, I am researching an OM917.652 in my Defender 130. Initially I would like to get some engine specs such as dimensions and if possible some installation drawings. Do you have any images/specs for the installation of this engine in your Defender. I'm not sure how easy it is to get this engine in Australia. Just starting out the research. Thanks in advance. George.
