om617 firing at 4cyl cold. 4,5 warm and 5cyl when at full throttle and boost - BRABUS - 07-26-2011 hi. Was doing some test runs today, and suddently i heard a high freq knocking noise. then it was "misfiring" on one cyl when i drive with only follow throttle, but when i floor it and get boost it shoots away like it did before. Injector problem maybe? Any ideas? RE: high freq knocking noise om617 - BRABUS - 07-26-2011 anyone? tried to hold on the injector lines near the injectors when the engine is running. And i can feel the pulse at all injector except injector number 3. It was only a pulse there sometimes. not sure if this is something usefull, maybe it just was my head that told my it didnt pulse as much as the other injector lines. I think its wierd because it pulls like hell when i first floor it and get boost, but before boost there is a rattling/knocking noise and you feel its not firing right at one cyl. Poor fuel quality can cause inj. to start hanging . Many times is water in fuel,suggest to carry fuel add.First sign of missing,poor running,nailing, install add. Then i swapped cyl 2 and 3 injectors, and still no change. so the engine is getting diesel.. But when it is cold it just run on 4cyl, but when its warm it runs at 4cyl but you can feel the 5th cyl wants to ignite. Any thougts? the noise is when the 5th cylinder start to ignite.... This is a very easy way to identify a injector not performing at its best but yet still working a little. When its warm it idle at 4,5cyl. but when i open the injector line on injector number 2 it goes from 4,5cyl to 4cyl and its squirting diesel from the nut on the injector line... so im started to think the problem is valves or lower compression rings ?!?!? . because the the cylinder 2 wonth fire until the engine gets warm, and then it only fires at 50%. Its directly under the injector if you have the injector out you can look down there with a flash light and see it there glow plug prechamber and the little ball are in there The ball glows red hod after the engine is running it ignites the fuel before it come out of the prechamber its like the glow plug but it stays hot with every ignition of fuel The prechamber screws into the head and the injector in to it the ball is inside of the prechamber along with the glow plug!
