new guy, new car! - Herrmanator8 - 06-05-2009 hey, new member who found this site here. Im not sure if im posting in the correct section so please bear with me, im new. I just bought a 1983 mercedes 300SD turbodiesel, and i want to make this think crank oout power! now i know these are serious tire burning machines. what are some simple things I can do to make this engine have more power off the line? and is it possible to convert it from an automatic trans to a manual trans? Thanks, Jon RE: new guy, new car! - Herrmanator8 - 06-06-2009 (06-05-2009, 08:55 PM)Herrmanator8 hey, new member who found this site here. RE: new guy, new car! - winmutt - 06-06-2009 For starters make sure its in good running order. Simply having properly adjusted linkage, cleaned and turned ALDA can make your car seem new. Otherwise read. RE: new guy, new car! - Herrmanator8 - 06-08-2009 i know alot about engines in general but im sorta new to some of the parts on my diesel so im not too quick on your slang like ALDA? whats that mean? are you talking about the throttle linkage? RE: new guy, new car! - winmutt - 06-08-2009 No, its a fuel regulation device. Check out dieselgiant.com, peachparts.com or benzworld.org for info on all of this. RE: new guy, new car! - Herrmanator8 - 06-10-2009 thanks for replyin-- so i checked out those sites and found out a few things but I still cant find out what the linkage is or what the ALDA is. What is the linkage and how do i adjust it to run better? How do I clean and turn the ALDA? Thanks, Jon RE: new guy, new car! - winmutt - 06-10-2009 Check out dieselgiant.com, peachparts.com or benzworld.org for info on all of this. RE: new guy, new car! - Herrmanator8 - 06-12-2009 okay thanks, i figured it out and have already cleaned the ALDA but the site has no specifications on turning the ALDA and still cant find any info on blocking the EGR. Thanks, Jon RE: new guy, new car! - winmutt - 06-12-2009 (06-12-2009, 10:49 AM)Herrmanator8 okay thanks, i figured it out and have already cleaned the ALDA but the site has no specifications on turning the ALDA and still cant find any info on blocking the EGR. Blocking the EGR or tampering with the ALDA is illegal in all 50 states. I hear a .25 piece fits in the EGR tube and that the metal surround on the top of the alda peels off like a sardine can. |
