OM 617 Water Pump Pulley Size - zeeman - 01-11-2014
I have two core engines I am rebuilding, one has a smaller dual groove pulley on the water pump. The other is missing the pulley. In looking at my engine for my 300SD it has a larger dual groove pulley on the water pump. Are there two different dual groove sizes?

Two different pulleys yes... If I remember right the '85 cars got a different sized pulley that spins the water pump faster so it is smaller. They also got the fan blade with more blades (9 or 11 I forget the count).

the earlier na engines on the G had a smaller pulley also
