I have found that the stock system on my E300 with the OM606 is actually quite good at 2.5" - the car was the fastest production diesel car when it came out after all, I will be looking for a 3" exhaust, although for me I have an issue with the fact that the steering rack gets in the way of having a large downpipe + exhaust, a 3" system seems to be the norm though.

70 to 80mm all the way to the rear, with a small mufler at the end , mufler not silencer Wink

I am keeping the stock 2.5" exhaust with de-silencer & de-cat. The turbo is a rotary muffler anyway.

I will be looking to add an 'exhaust cutout valve' to mine Big Grin

I upgraded my OM606 based G with a shorter exhaust path (right side only). 2.5" tubing all the way out, with nothing but a Magnaflow 12276 in the path. That is a 24" stainless steel packed straight through silencer. Not at all noisy and the G went from 15.5s to 13.5s with no other changes (factory ECU).
