Has anyone "shaved" their W123? - Greazzer - 08-25-2015 Looking at getting rid of the molding altogether. I look at new cars and they have no molding. I look at custom cars and older high-end cars and they have no molding. Does anyone have any pictures of a W123 without molding? Also, looked at recessed / shaved door handles. Not sure on that one yet. Any snappies out there on this one too? RE: Has anyone "shaved" their W123? - EmJay - 08-25-2015 If you decide to get rid of the moulding, I could use some of the clips for the driver door RE: Has anyone "shaved" their W123? - Greazzer - 08-25-2015 Those red buttons? I have a bunch of them, enough for one piece of molding if you want them if I go that route. They are only .10 a pop or so new. RE: Has anyone "shaved" their W123? - Simpler=Better - 08-25-2015 The official term is *red monkey assholes*. Someone on STD or PP was running a w123 with no cladding, I think jenryus? The guy with the hillbilly w/ bugeyes as his avatar. RE: Has anyone "shaved" their W123? - EmJay - 08-25-2015 I have the red ones, I need the black ones to shove into the red ones. I think I know who you mean, but the spelling of the name is off a hair. I will stumble into him. Thanks Ryan. RE: Has anyone "shaved" their W123? - MFSuper90 - 08-26-2015 I've seen one as well, but can't remember who did away with it... I kinda like mine because it keeps my doors from all dinged up. RE: Has anyone "shaved" their W123? - EmJay - 08-27-2015 Thought I saw a 85 350SDL that didn't have any at PullAPart RE: Has anyone "shaved" their W123? - bt1211 - 10-24-2015 here is a CD pic that I took off the web. Mine is also shaved but it aint ready to post RE: Has anyone "shaved" their W123? - Greazzer - 10-24-2015 Thanks ! I like it ... Wonder if that blasted drip edge / "A" pillar molding could be shaved off too? RE: Has anyone "shaved" their W123? - bt1211 - 10-24-2015 yea, it could but that would be quite the gap to weld and lead. I did it on my 911 a few years back and to this day I still worry when its going to crack The 4 door looks very Rolls Royce-ish in the last pic RE: Has anyone "shaved" their W123? - Greazzer - 10-25-2015 Thanks again ! I like the shaved look ... even getting rid of the very bottom molding looks good. BTW, when you welded over the "A" pillar - gutter molding/drip edge, was it simply just one weld, or was it more involved? It's been around 4 years since I had to remove and replace that molding and I only recall a pinch weld at the top - roof line. RE: Has anyone "shaved" their W123? - bt1211 - 10-25-2015 It took a long time cause I did a little at a time, so I wouldn't warp it. At the time my skills were not that good but it was something I could manage if I did a section at a time It was the first time I leaded but it was pretty easy. Lots of how to videos on the web RE: Has anyone "shaved" their W123? - bricktron - 02-18-2016 (^^ not my car) i have gone a ways down this road too. pretty content by this point running with no body trim at all but i haven't filled the holes. even the A/C pillar trim is gone and i don't miss it. a couple of funky body features are revealed this way but what are you gonna do.
