OM60x timing device information - baldur - 01-15-2018 Does anyone know where I can find specs for the operation of the timing device on the various OM60x engines? What I'm specifically looking for is information on the timing curve they are expected to operate with, at what engine speed the timing should start getting advanced, at what speed there should be the full amount of advance and how many degrees of advance does the sprocket add at full speed. RE: OM60x timing device information - Evgeniy1987 - 01-16-2018 Full geometrically possible advance - measured by eye and a geo-triangle - is about 20 - 25 cranck-degrees RE: OM60x timing device information - baldur - 01-16-2018 Ok. I am finding that my engine definitely wants less advance at low speeds now that it has a 7.5mm pump, but although acceleration is good it feels flat up top and has high EGT so I'm thinking it may need more high speed advance. RE: OM60x timing device information - Turbo - 01-16-2018 How did you come to the conclusion -"I am finding that my engine definitely wants less advance at low speeds now that it has a 7.5mm pump" and at what rpm did find? last I spoke with diesel meken on phone they had made so it could advance 5 degrees more, but if you run high rpm it will be a limeted factor, guy in the tractor pulling are doing 50 degrees but the advance do not change and I guess it is why they needs to take it really easy when they spin iyt up to boost RE: OM60x timing device information - baldur - 01-16-2018 The engine pings like a machine gun at low RPM unless I retard the pump. I do however have it running smoothly at higher speeds and loads but it still is a bit rough at low RPM. Leading me to believe it would be of benefit to pull a couple of degrees out up to 2000RPM. That could be interesting for me too. I also have noise above 2000rpm that dissapears above that. Maybe that is because of the 7,5mm elements. Yes, my engine sounded much smoother with 6mm elements. It was suggested to me to try special injection nozzles that reduce pinging. I will post an update when I have tested those. I also want to do some development on the pump timing, find the curve that gives me the best performance. I've made some yesterday of mine and I would like to compare the two is possible.(02-13-2018, 05:11 AM)addi.bigg(01-16-2018, 05:48 PM)baldur The engine pings like a machine gun at low RPM unless I retard the pump.
