OM617 MW pump experiment
OM617 MW pump experiment
Later on this summer/ autum I will make some progress with this experiment. I have been so busy this seson with alot of superpumps and you that follow me on facebook have probably noticed that Im a bit into Black Smoke Racing helping them with their fuel system.

Are we going to see an episode about Dieselmeken with the Blacksmoke boys on Youtube like they did with Pekka Herlevi?

I use them as they are. Max 16 mm rack and it works ok. I now have all parts To go ahed and build up a few of these 8 mm mw pumps.
I am now at pump #2, Have done some changes to the better I think, Pump will go up in testbench in 1 or 2 weeks, remember, this is a side project.
larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

it's been a (long) while since I've been on here...glad to see you are finally modding these pumps, Göran. I look forward to the progress, even though I already have an MW modified by Diesel Power Systems (or whatever their new name is now...a subsidiary of someone else now). Anyway, I appreciate all the work your doing for this community! keep it up.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm pretty

I think later model pumps might have some sort electric rack position sensor or something but I'm not entirely sure

The '85 pumps have a hole for the timing checker tools. You're not stuck with the drip method.
Ok so do I rebuild the 85 one or send the old one to sweden and keep the 85 just in case? I dont know much about setting one up so i dpnt know if im going to be using "timing checker tools".
Wonder what the car is doing with that rack sensor info...
Rack sensor is used as an input for the egr computer.
When you install a pump, you have to time it. The '85 pump will be easier to time.

It's not that easy. The sensor isn't a potentiometer. I don't how it works and I haven't found any descriptive documentation about it. This has been discussed in past threads.
Ok Ill search for it. But the controller yankneck696 is working on will take just about any kind of signal- pwm or whatever. (If its the same guy from 4btswaps(
I do not think what I am working on will help with the rack sensor. Check out Ole Fejer's controller (Not sure of the spelling). If I remember right, the rack sensor is not at all a resiistive element. You will see his controller on this forum. It also controls some of the transmissions.
And, yes, I use the same screenname on all forums....

I made a controller to drive an electronic M pump. There the rack position sensor is a variable inductance deal with a pair of coils. My experiments showed that one coil is fixed inductance and I believe it is just a reference for temperature compensation while the other coil has a shunt on its core that varies the inductance.
I built a circuit to feed a square wave to the coils and measure the phase shift to get position feedback. I'm using a microcontroller but it could easily be done with op-amps to produce a PWM or frequency signal.

Prob easier to just use a tps and forget the pump signal, as pump needs mods anyway
(09-18-2014, 07:42 AM)atypicalguy ...Does anyone have a part number for a stock mercedes TPS that would work on a w123 diesel? Thanks.

Thanks. Still have not sourced the cummins he200vg. They only sell them in china. I have a friend who travels there so it might still happen.

I have a tps part number for you "atypicalguy"... try A 011 542 87 17 - from a w210 gas car. Here are a few photos:

Cores for testing purposes? Or cores for resale?
I talked with him on Facebook the other day, he's ready. Send your pumps his way. I'm about a month until I can get mine done. (Money is tighter than usual currently)
Its up and running, currently I have pumps works OK, Im shipping 1 to Canada soon and 1 to USA. However there is alot moore work with those MW than the M-serie pumps.
This is great news! Does the extra work translate into more $$, or are they priced about the same as the M Pumps?
I try and keep it at the same price as M-pumps, 1000 euro incl tax, For US customers -20% tax + shipping & corepump
Corepump is around 100 euro
Shipping, around 120-140 euro to USA

I am getting a quote of $400 USD from South Dakota to Sweden on an MW pump. It sounds a bit high. Anyone else done this? What company and what did you pay?
Thanks,
