engine gelenderwagen ws om 606
hi. wonder if om606 engine is the same basis as 3.5 gelenderwagen engine? what is the difference there?engine code 3.5? thanks
(09-11-2010, 06:06 PM)ForcedInduction They are completely different engines.

OM603.97x. No, bad to tune, the rods can't hold up to more power without bending and the cylinder walls are weak (thin from the larger cylinder bore).

the CDI would be a challenge to install because of the complicated computer system.
if your G has a 603 in it, then a 606 will fit with little trouble. you can use the same engine mounts and many of the peripheral engine components from the 603. including the injection pump. that way, you don't have to introduce any new electronics.
Good luck
If you want just big power, you dont need cdi or nira on it.
Just om606 and good ip = Mynä-Diesel, big turbo, etc.
Idi engine can make rpm very high so it rpm range is pretty good even at big turbo.
And what is best, you dont have to send all that 10,000

Hey look, jeemu is back! Some 4x4 do mud and need power at speed.
Forced, Jeemu's engine has more power than stock at under 3400rpm (1000rpm earlier than stock). He also wrote that IF one wants just big power..
Mine has a big turbo and more power than stock at 2800rpm (vs 4400). More tq than stock starting from 2400rpm.
Others want much more power than stock, even if it means sacrificing some grunt under 2500rpm.
nofun racing: $10 000 is not enough for OM606 + CR. Mech pump instead of CR and spend the money on charging.
(09-13-2010, 07:25 PM)ForcedInductionI know that at people has differend needs.(09-13-2010, 04:52 PM)jeemu Just om606 and good ip = Mynä-Diesel, big turbo, etc.
Jeemu, someday you'll figure out that people don't like having to revv their engine to 5000rpm to make more power than a stock engine. Being in a G-wagen I seriously doubt he is making a drag racer or drifter, 4x4 owners want usable torque without having to revv the piss out of it.
