I don't know what brand they are, but my 240D has cross drilled rear brake rotors. What should I make of this?

I'm don't remember if they are vented or not. There are no markings on the face of the rotors though.

Has anyone else ordered drilled/slotted rotors for the w123 of ebay?
It seems as if there is tons of them on there, both front and rears.
Its questionable because its ebay...but damn that would be sweet to have on all 4 corners, along with stainless brake lines.

Cross-drilled rotors are totally pointless for the most part... too many specifics to get into. Especially on a DD, they are unnecessary and second even if cheaper on eBay I wouldn't trust my brakes/life to cheap chinese rotors.

Cross-drilled rotors
* more expensive
* pads wear faster
* rotors tend to crack and last less
* questionably look better

Vented rotors are far better. Drilling is for letting out the brake pad gasses, which only happens when the brakes get very hot. Unless you're multi-lap racing or dragging your brakes down the mountains I can't see any benefit.

In any case, diameter > holes/slots. The Big Brake upgrade using 1986+ W126 rotors/calipers has far better results if you have 15"+ wheels to put on it.

Well two seperate times once in a w116 and most recently in my 240D, I was coming down from from a VERY twsity, switchback filled, steep road from the Mt. Baldy ski lifts near my house. The w116 i just noticed extreme brake fading, and in the 240 i thought my car was on fire the drivers side front brake was smoking so bad.
There was no dragging the brakes down the hill, i was in a low gear but the drive up and down really pushes these cars to there limits.

Im definetly gonna go with the 15inch rotors then. These can only be put on the front right?
The calipers mount right up with stock hardware?

The braking power is really great on these cars. I can lock all four wheels on dry asphalt. Its just the fade that it a problem... anyone tried some brake ducts for better/faster cooling?

Some input on cross-drilled rotors: I put Zimmerman Cross drilled, and Akebono Euro brakes on my 1987 300TD 2 years/25k+ ago and the rotors hardly have a lip and the brake pads look new. My stopping power is plenty sufficient, though not quite as good as the later 124 dual piston calipers. I recently put Stainless Lines on the rear and that made it a bit more firm. If I brake hard however, I have noticed a bit of a shimmy near the end. Rear right caliper was replaced recently as well.
