Well, I don't know (yet)
For a modern car I think you would be better of keeping to stock wiring etc.
But for swaps...
Myself I am looking to make big HP diesel engine for my boat and I like electronics to control smoke and torque.

The nozzles as a limiting factor should be easy to overcome.
The injector nozzles on the CDI engines could be opened up using EDM or extrude hone (or a combination of the two processes) much in the same way other performance DI injectors are built up.
