om617 firing at 4cyl cold. 4,5 warm and 5cyl when at full throttle and boost
hi.
Was doing some test runs today, and suddently i heard a high freq knocking noise. then it was "misfiring" on one cyl when i drive with only follow throttle, but when i floor it and get boost it shoots away like it did before. Injector problem maybe? Any ideas?
anyone?
tried to hold on the injector lines near the injectors when the engine is running. And i can feel the pulse at all injector except injector number 3. It was only a pulse there sometimes. not sure if this is something usefull, maybe it just was my head that told my it didnt pulse as much as the other injector lines.

One nozzle clamps (needle blocks)? This is normally related to a certain rpm range only.

Possible sticking inj. Try holding a lg.screwdriver on inj. line, handle end to ear, if diff. sound than others pull inj.
Poor fuel quality can cause inj. to start hanging . Many times is water in fuel, suggest to carry fuel add.First sign of missing, poor running, nailing, install add. Other problems ,fuel is just to dry, inj.overheat, again install add.
hi. Tried to losen the injector line to cyl 2 nothing changes. Then i swapped cyl 2 and 3 injectors, and still no change. so the engine is getting diesel.. But when it is cold it just run on 4cyl, but when its warm it runs at 4cyl but you can feel the 5th cyl wants to ignite. Any thougts? the noise is when the 5th cylinder start to ignite....
Very strange. Wish I could help
Try to loosen 2 injector lines at a time, you should feel, hear, and see a major difference in the way the engine idles. if you find 2 that do not make a drastic difference, tighten one and open a different one if you find a drastic difference its the one you tighten if it’s not a drastic difference tighten the other one of the first 2 and loosen the other one again to verify. This is a very easy way to identify a injector not performing at its best but yet still working a little.
Hope this helps
Oil burner.
I most likely found out that nothing wrong with injector ...
When its warm it idle at 4,5cyl. but when i open the injector line on injector number 2 it goes from 4,5cyl to 4cyl and its squirting diesel from the nut on the injector line... so im started to think the problem is valves or lower compression rings ?!?!? . because the the cylinder 2 wonth fire until the engine gets warm, and then it only fires at 50%. But when it get full throttle and boost it works like hell
gonna check the valves now... if it was bad comp, wouldnt i have pressure in the crankcase/blowby? its not much pressure in the crankcase, even when im driving at 2.5bar for boost. The ball in the precamber can fall off? where in the prechamger is it mounted?
if you dont say what year/make/model/engine you have, then you should put it in your sig, so we know what we're working with.

i havent touched the ip after i got it back from pp diesel in finland. and when i loosen the injector line at the injector at the cyl it is misfiring at, its squirts diesel. wee wil se when i innstall the pump on my new engine. Removed engine today, new engine new in a week or so
I would verify cold and hot compression on all the cylinders. If they check out as being even, then it's an IP issue. Perhaps as simple as a DV seal as 'mutt has suggested. [/align]

Hi
On my 240D it happened exactly same thing
i did some runs and then when I stopped and let it cool down a little bit
at first it run on all 4 suddenly when i rev it it missfired and then it missfired at idle to so drove in the garage check the valve adjustment injectors took a comp test and had 14bar on 2 cyl took of the cylinder head and saw that my headgasket has blow by beetween 2 & 3 cyl and then test the valve leakage and all valves was leaking by a little bit
It may not be the same problem but it sounds like it should be the same
You going to pull the head and see what's wrong with the old one? You think it dropped a precup?
