I believe the 190D actually was available with a 5 speed... someone else will probably chime in on that, but I'd start there... if you cant find one of those, I'd start searching what other models had that same trans...
the only 190Ds that came with a manual in this country were the 2.2 and very rarely the 2.5 N/A
I too have a 2.5 Turbo and am itching to swap it to a manual
look for any 8, 10, 12V 5-speed manual transmission, they all fit.
flywheels all work, but find a 2.2 or 2.5 Diesel if you can. other than that - standard parts is all you need.
if you end up doing the swap - keep me updated as I have no idea where to start either!

I have personally performed this swap on 2 different '87 190D 2.5 Turbos. It's a great swap. The power of the 2.5Turbo is nice, and the versatility of the 5-speed can't be beat.
If you don't know exactly all of the parts that you will need, your best bet is to have the parts donor car sitting nearby when you do the swap. There are enough "small" parts needed to make the job frustrating if you have to keep running back to the dealer and/or junkyard. This swap can be accomplished with 100% factory correct parts - no fabrication should be necessary.
The other main item to be aware of are the gear ratios available in the transmissions and the rearends. The "diesel" spec 5-speeds for the 190's are geared "lower" than the gas-spec transmissions. The other issue is the rearends. The 2.5 Turbo 190D's had 2.65 rearends in the USA. That's the tallest ratio of any W201 car. You will be much better served by a lower ratio (higher numerically) rearend, unless you are building a land-speed record car.
