Hi to everyone I'm new to this kind of things so take easy on me!Tongue

I'm 22 years old and have a beautiful Mercedes 190D ( post pics later), and love the car, and sometimes my friends tend to joke with meDodgy, they just don't understand!
Well, cuting the talking, I want to ask you Diesel experts and to all of you, what improvements can I do with my humble diesel 4 cylinder, without engine collapse, just a little bit more power if it possible.

I'll wait from you....

Thanks
David

Slap a turbo on it. Between that and adjusting the pump yourself you should get a little more power.

If you have the cash you can slap an upgraded pump on it too, that would get alot more power.

Thanks,
but I think slaping a turbo it will melt down the pistons? or pretty soon engine failure??what is the expected lifetime?
How can I upgrade the pump?

Putting a turbo actually can prolong the life of the engine due to pumping more air & making a leaner ratio, that lowers the EGT (Exhaust Gas Temp)... It will also clear up any black smoke (un burnt fuel). A small turbo & up to 10 PSI boost combined with tweaking the IP will give you some good power & still give good longevity to the engine.

Could you explain a little better as I'm not following.
Because since we are getting more air/fuel meaning more power then we reaise the temperature??Am I wrong?
Thanks

Adding air to a diesel lowers the temps by leaning it out / adding fuel raise the temps if you keep it under 10psi and tweak the stock injection pump it should not get any hotter than with out a turbo

Well--The basic engine series is the same between 190D/250D/300D, but there are many differences!

hy there,
tb sou de lisboa, qualquer duvida sobre esse tuning grita!
the best u can do is finding a 602 td engine and from that on u can go racing to your friends as well belive me they will be amazed "with tractor fuel" power hehe.
but with this 601 engine that´s not much u can do they tend to be weak, but anyway as other members write above turbo it and u can get 100hp without to much damage expected.
In my case i have one 124 with 605 engine and i´m pursuing 300hp.
regards

That is one clean mercedes, looks like it just rooled off the showroom floor!!

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!
